Skanda Yoga Teacher Training 300hrs Coming Soon

The Skanda Yoga 300hr program (Feb 11th-June 17th 2023) is open for the first time for students from other schools that have already completed a 200hr certification program. The course will meet on weekends from 3-6:30pm for five months. Graduates of the program will be eligible for 500hr RYT with Yoga Alliance. The course includes unlimited classes at Skanda Yoga Studio during the training.

  • Feb 11th: Intro. to Skanda Yoga Philosophy and Practice
  • Feb 12th: Sun Salutations with Skanda techniques
  • Feb 18th: Working with Functional Planes of Alignment: Standard and Dynamic applications in Asana
  • Feb 19th: Comparing and Contrasting alignment techniques for specific body types
  • Feb 25th: Advanced Scientific Stretching Techniques (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, pneumomuscular flexibility training, and shutdown threshold isometrics)
  • Feb 26th: Training in giving adjustments in basic poses
  • March 5th: Verbal Instructions: applying technique for concise alignment instructions.
  • March 6th: Stabilizing students in advanced poses
  • March 11th: Chakras and the energy body: how they relate to Skanda Yoga philosophy and how they are taught in class.
  • March 12th: Restorative Yoga: how to use props
  • March 18th: Pranayama
  • March 19th: Maya Calendar: theme setting and weaving
  • March 25th: Bhagavad Gita
  • March 26th: Mythology and philosophy: classical and vedantic
  • April 1st: Practice Teaching Red Dragon Sequence: How to teach backbends in a multi- level class while working towards Natarajasana.
  • April 2nd: In-depth anatomy and therapeutics: head, neck, shoulders
  • April 8th: Practice Teaching White Wind sequence: How to teach alignment in sitting poses while working towards Marichiasana.
  • April 9th: In-depth anatomy and therapeutics: arms and torso
  • April 15th: Practice Teaching Blue Night sequence: Teaching inversions
  • April 16th In-depth anatomy and therapeutics: hips and legs
  • April 22nd: Practice Teaching Yellow Seed: Teaching arm balances and working on eka pada raja kapotasana series.
  • April 23rd: Easter – no class
  • April 29th: Secrets of Skanda myths
  • April 30th: Anatomy review and functional movement
  • May 6th: 7 Secrets of Shiva
  • May 7th: Practice teaching Red Serpent: backbends and shoulder openers
  • May 13th: 7 Secrets of Vishnu
  • May 14th: Practice Teaching Blue Hand: variations in inversions and arm balances
  • May 20th: 7 Secrets of the Goddess
  • May 21st: Practice Teaching Yellow Star: leading a master class and giving demonstrations
  • May 27th: Ramayana and Hanuman
  • May 28th: Lucid Dreaming: The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep
  • June 3rd: Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and meditation techniques
  • June 4th: Blindfold asana test
  • June 10th: Final Teaching Exam
  • June 11th: Final Teaching Exam
  • June 17th: Final written exam

Students must also attend 55 regular weekly classes and the teachers practice on Saturdays 12:30-2pm. There are also required hours for observing and teaching classes for certification.
